Roberto Di Matteo proud of West Brom spirit

Roberto Di Matteo praised the never-say-die attitude of his West Bromwich Albion players after they fought back to earn a 2-2 draw with Manchester United.

Trailing 2-0 after 45 minutes at Old Trafford, the Baggies looked to be heading to a rare defeat in their impressive start to life back in the top-flight.

However, a Patrice Evra own goal and gift-wrapped second from Somen Tchoyi after United's Edwin van der Sar was guilty of a goalkeeping howler saw Di Matteo's side snatch an unlikely point.

"We never give up and that's my philosophy to be honest," said the Italian."I don't want them to give up. I want my players to fight.

"I was obviously disappointed with the goals we gave away but after that I was happy.

"We weren't that bad in the first half at all and I just thought, if we get one back in the second half, who knows?
